Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated October 27, 2026
This page explains how cancelling, changing plans, pausing and refunds work. It sums up section 6 of our Terms of Service (version 2026-10-27b); if the two ever differ, the Terms apply. Questions? Email reputationsheriff@gmail.com.
The short version
- You can cancel any time. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
- If you're not happy, ask within 30 days of signing up for your money back.
- The domain registration cost and the payment processing fee are never refunded. Credit packs, and domains bought with credits, aren't refundable.
- After 30 days there are no partial or prorated refunds, including for annual plans.
- Unused credits expire when you cancel.
- Our published prices already include any sales tax.
- Purchases are sold through Link, a service of Stripe, as reseller and seller of record. Receipts come from Link, and your statement shows LINK.COM* FAIRLYKNOWN.
30-day money-back guarantee
Ask within 30 days of signing up:
- Monthly plans (Protect, Build, Recover): we refund your setup fee and your first month.
- Annual plans: we refund your full payment.
- Recover Launch (the one-time $695 package): we refund your full payment.
In every case, the domain registration cost and the payment processing fee are not refunded. Domains are bought from a registrar on your behalf, and that cost can't be recovered once a domain is registered.
The guarantee doesn't apply if we close your account for misuse, such as using FairlyKnown to defame, harass, impersonate or target anyone (see section 2 of the Terms). Accounts closed for misuse get no refund.
Cancelling
- Cancel any time from Account, then Billing, in your account. You don't need to call or email anyone.
- Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again after that.
- Outside the 30-day guarantee, cancelling stops future charges; it doesn't refund the period you're already in. There are no partial or prorated refunds, including for annual plans.
- Any credits you haven't used when you cancel, both monthly credits and credits from packs, expire at cancellation.
Changing plans
- Upgrades take effect right away. You're charged the prorated difference for the rest of your current period, and you get the extra credits for that month.
- Downgrades take effect at the end of the period you've paid for. You keep your current plan until then, so there's nothing to refund for the current period.
Pausing with Maintain
Maintain isn't a plan; it's a pause. For $9 a month per site, your site stays online and your domain is renewed, but we don't write new pages or send weekly updates. Keeping both Recover sites is $18 a month.
- A pause starts at the end of the period you've already paid for.
- Credits you've banked are held while you're paused: not spent and not expired.
- You can resume a plan at any time.
Domains
- The domain(s) your plan includes are registered for you once your first payment has cleared.
- After you press Register this domain, there's a short window, about 10 minutes, when you can cancel from the Domains page. If you cancel in that window, nothing is bought and any credits you used come back.
- Once a domain is registered, its registration cost isn't refundable, including under the money-back guarantee.
- After you cancel, you can email reputationsheriff@gmail.com to ask for your domain to be transferred to you. We don't charge for this, but you pay any transfer fee the receiving registrar or platform charges (for example, when moving a domain from Cloudflare to Squarespace).
- Anything unusual, like a premium name or a high price, waits for our team to check before anything is bought.
Credits and credit packs
- Unused monthly credits roll over, up to 3 months of your plan's allowance.
- Credits you buy as packs don't expire while your subscription is active. Unused credits, monthly and from packs, expire when you cancel.
- Credit packs, and any domains bought with credits, aren't refundable, including under the money-back guarantee. If something went wrong with one, email us and we'll look at it.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, we pause new pages and Link retries the card. If it still can't be collected, the subscription ends.
How to ask for a refund
- Email reputationsheriff@gmail.com from the address on your account, or reply to any email from us. Tell us which purchase it's about.
- Approved refunds go back to the card or payment method you paid with, through Link. Your bank may take a few business days to show it.
- If you have a problem with a charge, please email us first. We'd much rather fix it with you directly. You can also contact Link's support, which may issue a refund directly.
