Privacy Policy
Last updated October 22, 2026
This policy explains what information FairlyKnown collects, why, and what you can do about it. We've kept it plain. Questions or requests: reputationsheriff@gmail.com.
1. What we collect
- Your account: your email address and a password (stored only in protected, hashed form by our sign-in provider).
- What you tell us about the person the profile is about (you, or someone you're authorized to act for): name and other names used, city and past cities, profession, employer, links to profiles, your situation, and the facts you confirm, edit, or mark as private.
- Search results: when we run an audit we search the person's name using the Brave Search API and keep a limited record of each result — its web address (URL), website domain, position (rank), and the short title and snippet shown — plus your answers (“Yes, that's me”, “Not me”, “Not sure”). We don't copy whole pages.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We keep Stripe's customer and subscription references and your plan status.
- Agreements and activity: when you accepted our Terms and confirmed your authority, and a log of important actions (like publishing a page) for safety and support.
- We don't ask for your phone number.
2. Why we use it
- To run your audit, score, plan, and the pages you approve.
- To tell you apart from people with the same name.
- To take payments, send account emails (like sign-in links and notices about your pages), and give support.
- To keep the service safe, prevent misuse, and meet legal obligations.
3. We don't sell your data
We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't use it for advertising. Pages are published only when you approve them.
4. Who helps us run FairlyKnown
We share information only with service providers that process it for us, under their own security and privacy terms:
- Supabase — database and sign-in.
- Vercel — website hosting.
- Stripe — payments and billing.
- Resend — sending emails.
- Brave Search — the search results for your audit (we send the name and details needed for the search).
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
5. Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in. Your sign-in cookie works across personalreputationmanagement.org and our app at app.personalreputationmanagement.org so you don't have to sign in twice. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser may also keep a saved copy of an unfinished setup form on your own device.
6. Information about other people
Audits can surface results about other people who share a name. We use those only to tell them apart from the person the profile is about, never to build profiles of them, and we don't publish them. If you are someone a FairlyKnown customer has entered information about and you have a concern, email reputationsheriff@gmail.com and we'll look into it.
7. How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your information while your account is open, and as long as needed afterward for legal, tax, and safety reasons (for example, payment records and our action log). You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your information at any time by emailing reputationsheriff@gmail.com. We'll confirm the request comes from you before acting on it. Pages you published can be taken down at any time.
8. Security
We use encrypted connections, access controls that keep each account's data separate, and reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
9. Children
FairlyKnown is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. A parent or legal guardian may manage a profile for their child; contact us if you believe a child has given us information.
10. Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app or by email.
11. Where we operate
FairlyKnown is operated in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States. This policy is governed by U.S. law.
